<비일상적 현실> 2014. 종이에 흑연, 38x45.5 cm
나는 각이 맞아 떨어진 정돈된 공간 안에 일상적이지 못한 사건들을 던져 놓듯이 배치하여 거슬리고 불편한 광경을 만들어 낸다. 이는 당시의 사건현장에서 나의 감각과 기억의 초점이 맞춰졌던 지점을 관찰하기 위한 시도로서, 어떤 객관적인 자료에도 의지하지 않은 체 당시 사건 현장에서 느꼈던 기억과 감각에만 철저히 의존하고 집중해 주관적으로 그것을 재구성한 작업이다. 이 작업은 실제 사건의 생생함과 현장성보다 내가 그 사건을 어떻게 경험했었는지를 더 강조함으로써, 나는 그러한 경험들에 어떻게 반응하고 있는가를 표현하고 확인해보기 위한 일종의 자기객관화를 위한 작업이다.
지난 2012년 10월부터 2014년 9월까지 의무소방으로 군복무를 했던 나에게 재난 현장은 일상적인 공간이 되었었다. 하지만 소방서 밖에만 나가도 일상적인 재난들을 우리의 현실적인 조건으로 받아들이는 것은 쉽지 않은 일이 되어 버린다. 설령 그것을 인지하고 있다 해도 말이다. 오히려 많은 경우 우리는 각종 미디어가 만 들어낸 이미지들이 우리 삶의 환경과 조건을 이루고 있다고 생각할지도 모른다. 예를 들어, 넓은 집이나 좋은 차 등 ‘좋은 삶’을 상징하는 여러 이미지들은 문자 그대로 하나의 ‘상징’으로서 우리의 삶의 조건을 이루고 있 다. 하지만 그러한 이미지들이 이루는 퍼즐이 어긋나거나 균열이 생기는 지점에서 재난은 우리의 삶을 이루는 하나의 현실적인 조건으로서 발생하고 더이상 남 일이 아닌 우리가 직접 대면하고 해결해야만 하는 삶의 일부 가 된다.
나는 이 작업들을 통해 이미지들로써 만들어진 퍼즐 조각 속에 보이는 균열을 통해 우리는 그것 너머의 실체를 보여줌으로써, 우리의 삶을 규정짓고 제한하는 조건이 무엇인지 질문한다.

I made an uncomfortable situation through throw the unusual accidents on the neat space. This is the trial for find out where and how my senses are focused on, then I watching my subjective impression and the way how I experience of each events while I didn’t depend any objective information or resources for achieving figure out how I react those happenings in the perspective of self-objective.
From october 2012 to september 2014 is my military service period as “Government Issued Fire Figther” and it makes disasters an daily experience. But once I leave the fire station, it is not usual anymore. It is hard to accept as an usual reality even if I recognize it. In fact, the reality, condition or environment of our life we think is made by media in numerous cases. “Good life”, for example, big house and fancy car is literally build our life’s condition as one of the symbol. But where those symbol’s puzzle’s broken spot, we can call it disaster and it becomes the part of our life we should handle or solve it.
I ask what is the condition define and limit our life through these scenes of cracks of our 'reality' puzzle to watch unusual realities.
