<국기들> 2015. 조작된 국기, 깃대, 오디오가이드, 가변크기
이 작품은 5개의 깃발과 오디오 가이드로 구성되어 있다. 각각의 깃발은 중국, 일본, 미국, 북한, 남한의 국기를 조작해 만든 것이다. 원본 이미지의 크기는 가로 90cm(10630pixels)를 기준으로 1픽셀의 단위로 원본과 색상이 반전된 이미지가 교차하여 얽히게 제작하였다. 하지만 원본 이미지와 반전된 이미지가 체스판의 흑백 칸처럼 반복된 이 국기의 이미지가 출력될 때에는 팔레트의 물감을 다 섞었을 때 볼 수 있는 듯한 불투명한 색으로만 출력되어 나온다. 아주 작은 픽셀 단위에서 극단적으로 반복되는 변화를 국기 제작용 프린터의 성능으로는 재현해내지 못하고 이를 그 중간값을 갖는 하나의 단조로운 색으로 치환시켜 버린 것이다.
깃발 작품의 감상을 돕기 위해 제작된 오디오 가이드에서는 각각의 국기에 맞는 국가가 나온다. 하지만 이어폰을 통해 이 오디오 가이드를 듣는다면 양쪽에서 각기 다른 소리가 난다는 것을 알 수 있다. 한쪽에서는 일반적인 국가가 재생되지만, 반대쪽에서는 그 국가가 거꾸로 재생되고 있다.

This work is consist of 5 national flags and audio guides for each flags. each flags are of China, Japan, U.S., North Korea, and South Korea. The original image of flags and its invert images are weaved in the level of a pixel like chess field. However when I print out this weaved image, there is an only grey flat one because the printer cannot afford to the resolution of this flag image. So printer replaced chess field like pattern into grey fabric of mono color.
I set the audio guide to help to appreciate this work's process and the behind story of this. But people can hear wired national anthem not clear clues. The audio guide is consist of a reversed anthem and original anthem also. and they are played each side of headphone.
